GTA 6 Pre-Load Begins November 10, Requires Up to 212GB of Storage

After years of waiting, GTA 6 is finally getting closer to launch, but players might want to check their console storage before the big day arrives. Rockstar Games has officially confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI pre-loading begins November 10, giving players time to download the game before its November 19 release.

There’s just one catch: the pre-load requires up to 212GB of available storage, depending on the device. That is a serious amount of space for a single game, and some players may already be wondering which games will have to make room for Jason and Lucia.

So, is it time to start deleting old games, or will you be investing in an external storage drive? Either way, GTA 6 is about to demand more than just your attention.

GTA 6 Pre-Load Date and Timings on PS5 and Xbox

Rockstar Games has confirmed that digital pre-loading for GTA 6 will begin on November 10, 2026, with the exact start time varying by platform and region.

  • PS5: Pre-load starts at 12:00 AM midnight on November 10, according to your local time zone.
  • Xbox Series X|S: Pre-load starts at 12:00 AM GMT worldwide.

For players in Pakistan, this means PS5 users can start downloading at 12:00 AM PKT on November 10, while Xbox users will get access at 5:00 AM PKT on the same day.

The timing is different in other regions, too. PS5 players can begin pre-loading at midnight in their respective local time zones, while Xbox players worldwide follow the same GMT schedule. For example, Xbox pre-loading starts at 7:00 PM on November 9 in New York, 5:30 AM on November 10 in India, and 9:00 AM in Japan.

These pre-load dates apply to digital purchases. Rockstar has also confirmed that physical code-in-box editions for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will begin appearing at retailers on November 12.

With GTA 6 launching on November 19, players will have several days to download the game in advance. That should help avoid the launch-day download rush, especially for those dealing with slower internet connections.

GTA 6 Requires Up to 212GB of Storage

One thing is now certain: GTA 6 is going to need a serious amount of storage space. According to Rockstar’s official announcement, the pre-load file will require up to 212GB of available storage, depending on the device.

That’s a lot of space for one game, especially for players using consoles with limited internal storage. If your PS5 or Xbox is already packed with games, now might be a good time to start deciding which ones can take an extended vacation.

And let’s be honest, some of us might have to make a difficult choice: delete five old games, or finally invest in an expansion SSD. GTA 6 is clearly not planning to travel light.

Rockstar has advised players to make sure they have enough free space before pre-loading begins. Keep in mind that 212GB is the maximum stated requirement, not necessarily the exact file size on every console.

GTA 6 Physical Edition Comes Without a Disc

Players planning to buy a boxed copy of GTA 6 should know that it won’t include a traditional game disc. Rockstar has confirmed that the physical edition will contain a digital download code inside the box, which can be redeemed to download the game on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S.

The boxed editions are expected to become available from retailers starting November 12, giving buyers time to redeem their codes and pre-load the game before launch.

However, don’t expect to start playing early just because you receive the box ahead of launch. GTA 6 will still unlock on its official release date, November 19, 2026.

This also means collectors who were hoping to add a GTA 6 disc to their physical game collection might be disappointed. You’ll get the box, but the actual game will still need to be downloaded.

Rockstar Reveals a Free GTA 6 Leonida Map

Rockstar has another surprise for GTA fans who enjoy exploring every corner of the Grand Theft Auto world. On November 19, 2026, the company will release an official printable GTA 6 cover art poster and map of Leonida as a free digital download on its website.

Players who prefer something physical won’t be left out either. Rockstar plans to offer a double-sided printed version of the poster shortly after launch through the Rockstar Store.

The physical version will cost $0.99, or players can receive it for free with any purchase from the Rockstar Store.

Unfortunately, Rockstar has not included this map in the standard physical code-in-box edition. So if you were hoping to open your GTA 6 box and find a traditional fold-out map inside, you’ll have to get it separately.

At least this time, you won’t need to spend hours searching the internet for a fan-made map just to explore Leonida.

Final Thoughts

With GTA 6 launching on November 19, 2026, players now have a clear timeline to prepare for its arrival. Digital pre-loading begins November 10 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with up to 212GB of storage required depending on the device. Physical code-in-box editions are expected at retailers from November 12.

Rockstar is also offering a free printable cover art poster and Leonida map on launch day, giving fans another little bonus while they wait.

For now, the best thing players can do is check their available storage and make sure their consoles are ready. After all, the last thing anyone wants on November 19 is to spend launch day deleting games instead of exploring Vice City.

GTA 6 is almost here. Is your console ready?
